Teachers Inspire Teachers {Oct 27}

It's once again time for me to share about an amazing teacher that has inspired me.
This fabulous graphics artist made a huge impact in my journey to making items for my classroom and TpT store.
Mel from the pond and her graphics premium club changed my life.
Frog Spot Blog
I had no idea what clip art and graphics were until I found Mel's blog and TpT store.
Mel's graphics were the first graphics that I actually purchased too:)
When she started the Premium Graphics Club I begged my Hubby to let me get in on it.
During that time I hadn't really made or done anything for my store.
So I begged, pleaded, and cried until he said yes:)
It wasn't really that hard to convince him.
Once he knew that I was going to get an e-mail each business day with some goodness in it he was on board with signing up.
And I did sign up.
For a full year Mel sent me and other members of the club an e-mail with a font, graphic or full graphic set.
It was totally amazing!!
I loved getting those e-mail.
It was like Christmas each day.
All of my first products in my TpT store were and are made with Mel's wonderful graphics.
Still today just about every item I have in my store has something of Mel's in it.
I just LOVE all her stuff.
I will admit I was sad when she decided not to continue the Premium Club, but I can only imagine how much time and talent when into it.
It had to have been a HUGE job and commitment.
I am now a member of her Clipart Addicts group.
It's a special Facebook group where she has exclusive freebies for members.
She is just too good to us fans.
Right now she is apart of an educents clipart bundle.

It's an amazing deal for about $30.
Can you say WOW?
Stop by Mel's blogs and stores and show her some love!!
Thanks Mel for sharing your talent with me and others.

Here are a few freebies from my TpT store that I have made using Mel's wonderful graphics.

Five for Friday {Oct 25}

Whoo Hoo!!
It's Friday.
My most favorite day of the week besides Saturday and Sunday;)
Here are my random happenings from this week.

I'm excited to share a little peek into what I have been doing this week.

I'm super excited to have started my first linky party.  I really did it to make me blog more consonantly but I have it open for any one else that might want to join;)  Every Sunday I post about a teacher/blogger/artist that has inspired me in my classroom and/or life.  Click here to read my first and second post of inspirational teachers.

We made bat fact hats.
You can't see in this picture but we used a white crayon to write our sentence.
The kids wrote a fact about bats on their bat and then we turned them into hats.

My daughter turned 18!!
Enough said:/
That's my beautiful niece on the side.  She turned 21!
Where did the time go?:(

My firsties have been rocking those sight words.
I already have 3 that know all the first 100 words and are on to the 2nd 100 words:)
Happy, happy teacher!!!

The desk fairy didn't come this year.
So I told the kids was going to give her a call to see why.
The next day these cuties showed up.
They were a huge hit:)

Teachers Inspire Teachers {October 20}

It's Sunday and that means it's time for Teachers Inspires Teachers.
Today my inspirational teacher is Sarah Cooley @ First Grader at Last.

Back before I started blogging I was a stalker follower of Sarah's wonderful little blog.
Hers was the first blog I had ever followed and the reason behind my blog The Busy Busy Hive.
During that first year of following, I had created my blog but did not post or allow followers.
It was just for me to follow other wonderful teachers that had it all together.  I had no idea what I was doing or how to do all the amazing things all these other bloggy teachers were doing.

Sarah is such a brilliant teacher.  I have stole used lots of the ideas she has graciously shared on her blog.  I LOVE all her ideas but my most favorite was her Christmas Around the World Scrapbook.  This was also one of my first TpT buys.  I use this book every single year and my first graders love it along with their parents.  It makes such a cute keepsake to cherish.  Another great thing about this pack is that Sarah created a supplement pack to go with it and the best part is that it's FREE.

Another great idea I got from Sarah's blog was her Candy Land Sight Word Edition.  As soon as I saw it I had to make it.  I actually made 2 versions.  I made one like Sarah's and another one for my daughter that was in Kindergarten.  Her game had the words her teacher was using in class.  This turned out to be another HUGE hit with the kids.

This last fun little idea I'm going to share is Sarah's Spooky Shake Up.  I have not put this out for my kiddos to play yet but I'm pretty darn sure they are going to love it.  How could they not?  What an inexpensive and fun way to learn/review math addition.  All you need is an empty egg carton, stickers with numbers written on them and 2 counters or small erasers.

I highly recommend that you check out Sarah's blog and TpT store.  She has so many more wonderful and fun ideas that I'm sure you will find some great inspiration from her.

Thank you Sarah for all the wonderful ideas you have shared with me over the years.  You have came through for me so many times in the past and are still doing it now.  Thank you!!!

Now it's you're turn.
You can use the button from the top to use in your post and then link up so we can all be inspired.  You can also instragram your inspiration with the hash tag #teachersinspireteachers.

Teachers Inspire Teachers Weekly Linky Party

Well here it is.

My first linky party!!!!
I have had this idea in my head for sometime now and just didn't have the gumption to get it started.
I finally made myself sit down and work on it and I'm very pleased with it.
It has been a very eye opening experience.
I had no idea what I was doing and it was scary.
What if I do it wrong?  What if no one wants to link up?  What if some one does link up?
Hey those are just a few of the fears that were running around my head as I worked on this.
Then it hit me.  Don't sweat it.  It is what it is.
If I'm the only one linking up that's OK.
If I do it wrong that's OK.  It's a learning experience.
If someone wants to link up wonderful.
So I decided to start a weekly linky party.  Teachers Inspire Teachers
It's perfect from where I'm standing, because I have been inspired by so many other teachers that I will most likely never in my lifetime get to meet.  So this is my little way of saying THANKS for helping and being there for me.  When they didn't even know they were doing it.
YOU have inspired me to be a better teacher and person.
So each Sunday I have decided to write a post about one teacher/blogger/artist that has inspired me in someway.
I will have the linky open for the whole week so if you would like to post about a teacher or someone that has inspired you don't have to do it on Sunday.  You can link up anytime it is good for you.  If you don't blog you can instagram and use the #teachersinspireteachers to linkup.

I'm going to tell you a little about a wonderful kindergarten teacher today.
You might already follow him on his blog.  If you don't you really should.
Mr. Greg from Kindergarten Smorgasbord.

I have been inspired by his love of teaching to step up my own game in my first grade classroom.
Every year I have tried to work centers into my routine. And every year I have let it fall right back out.  This year I have decided that is not going to happen.

Mr. Greg is helping me out with this and doesn't even know it.
He has so many wonderful freebies over on his blog it would be a crime to not use them with my firsites.   I also just purchased his The Common Core Diner! A Common Core Aligned Math And Literacy Pack!
This pack has over 85 pages of finger licking goodness in it.
It's perfect for my first graders as they start working on addition and review numbers.
The literacy part will be a wonderful way for my kiddos to have fun and review
beginning sounds too.  And they can always use some more practice on handwriting;)
In fact I'm printing as I'm writing this.  The kids are going to adore these centers.
Happy kiddos = Happy teacher.
Here is a peek at the Math part of this pack!!

 Ten frames
These will be great to pitch into my math center.
The kiddos already know how to use these.
Count by 10
Super fun way to review this skill.
I'm super excited to use this.
Intro to addition, just what we are starting this week!!!
Count on
My kiddos can always use practice with this.
That is just a look at the math part of this packet.
It still has a literacy part too!!
I'm printing that part off to use as practice with my little darlings.

Mr. Greg has not only inspired me in my classroom.
He has inspired me with my home also.
I'm sure he didn't realize all those wonderful pictures he was put on instagram were showing me how pathetic my house looked in comparison.

It got me thinking.  I know that can be a scary thought but I started to realize I really needed to take control of my life and work on making it better.

I am very happy to say that I have been cleaning up my house.  I have been in a rut for far too long.
I have ripped up old carpet to reveal the hardwood below.  Now my hardwood isn't perfect but it has character and I LOVE it.  I only wish I had done it sooner.

I also got rid of the old furniture and bought some new!!
Out with that horrible stone colored stuff and on to the chocolate brown.
My son has already pegged this chair as his.  We also got another chair and a double recliner.  No couch or sofa.  This leaves a lot more room in our living room.

I also began cleaning up the basement.  No pictures there.  I would be mortified to show you what it looks like now.  But I have a plan for an office down there and I can't wait.  The kitchen table is not working out as well for The Busy Busy Hive production.  Just not enough space to work and the family actually wants to eat there sometime.  Go figure;)

So these are just a few of the ways Mr. Greg has inspired my life at home and in the classroom.
I highly recommend checking out his blog and stores.  If you're not following him you should.  Take my word for it.  You won't be disappointed.

Now it's your turn.
What teacher has inspired you and how?
If you would like to link up please do.

Inspirational thank you and a freebie

I am not the most consistent blogger.
I sometimes struggle to blog once a month.
Life just jumps right out there and gets in the way a lot.
So to help with that and to work on becoming a more consistent blogger I have decided to start a weekly linky party.
Yep that's a tall order for someone like me but I have the drive to do it and hopefully some of you will feel like linking up sometime.
With that being said my linky party was born or will be born tomorrow;)

I am going to write a post about a teacher/blogger/artist that has inspired me in my classroom and or life someway.  The link up will be available all week so you don't have to link up on a Sunday you can link up anytime that works for you.  If you don't blog that's OK.  How about linking up on Instagram using the hashtag #teachersinspireteachers.  Of course any other social media outlet that you would like to use would be great too!

My whole point is to say a BIG THANKS to those that inspire me, help me and do it with out the true knowledge that they are doing it.  I truly am appreciative of all your hard work and you deserve a pat on the back and recognition of a job well done.  I also want to give a BIG THANKS to all my followers.  Whether you follow my blog, TN, TpT, FB, Instagram, or Pintrest.  I truly am overwhelmed by your interest in me and my little blog and stores.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Now after all that lovey dovey stuff  I think you deserve a freebie.  If your not a follower I hope you will consider becoming one but it's not required.  If you do download the freebie I'd love to know what you think of it.

Five for Friday

Guess who is not on Fall Break?
What is Fall Break?
Yep doesn't happen at my school.
Oh Well.  I'll just enjoy everyone else's mini vacation through their blog post.

Today I'm linking up with the wonderful Doodle Bugs Teaching for the Five for Friday linky.

This week we had our annual field trip to Huber's Farm in Starlight, Indiana.
It is a working farm where we got to see how the apple production works.  Our picture shows us in the cold storage unit.  It was 32 degrees in there!
We also got to pick 4 golden delicious apples and a pumpkin.  Corn maze, bamboo maze and Mountain slide were just a few things we go to enjoy.

I'm lovin' my new AR board.  The kids are cut out and holding glitter guitars.  The sign says
" Rockin' to Our AR Goal!"  I'll have to try and get a close up of one of the kids next week to show how stinking cute this turned out.

For journal today the kiddos were told to write what ingredients they wanted to add to their Witch Stew.  This little lady wrote 26 items and drew pictures for each one.  WOW!!!:)  Happy Teacher!!

We finally got rid of the old furniture!!!!!!  I could not be more happy to see it go.  It was truly horrible.  It didn't last long and it did not clean as good as the sales person swore it would:(  as you can see from the picture.

I got my Clinique preorders and free gift.  I LOVE all the items in it and I will be buying more;)  I also have some from Este lauder.  It is more spa quality where Clinique is a get the job done no nonsense product.  This is my weakness and it doesn't help that my nephew's wife works for Estee Lauder and my niece is in my class.  I always have the inside scoop on what is coming up next.  I love it!

If you're on or soon to be on fall break enjoy your time off.
If you don't get a fall break like me, we'll be jealous together of all those that do;)

Have a great night!!

Halloween math centers and October FB Freebie

October is here and that means Halloween will be here soon too.
This is my favorite time of the year.
Pumpkin picking, costumes, decorating, leaves changing colors and my oldest child's birthday.
{She's going to be 18:( not looking forward to that.  Where has the years gone?}
Those are just a few of the reasons I love this month.
Halloween is a huge holiday for our house.
We love all the scary decorations and everything that goes along with it.
This flows over into my classroom as well.
What kid doesn't like Halloween?  OK so there probably are a few kids that don't like this holiday.
I just haven't met them yet.

To get my kiddos in school into the spirit I have been busy making Halloween centers.
I have a few math centers made up that I will be using the next few weeks.

They will be making and matching ten frames with these spooky mats and cards.
Picture will take you to TpT

Missing Ghost is currently my Facebook Fan Freebie.  It is completely black and white so it will be easy on your printer ink.  My kiddos have seen this one ready and can't wait to try it out.  You can click on the picture to be taken to my FB page.  Once your a fan you can download it instantly from the fan freebie tab.
My kiddos are sure to love finding missing numbers with these adorable ghost.
Facebook Fan Freebie

I have a few more math ideas running around in my head and I've already started working on some Halloween literacy centers.

I'm off to work on a linky party that I've been thinking about starting.  It would be my first and I'm really hoping that it will help me be more consistent with blogging.  We shall see.

Have a wonderful Saturday!!
