Lots of highs and a few lows!

I'm linking up with my sweet friend Julie for her High/Low party.
These are my recent high/lows over the last couple of weeks:)
First off are my highs for the week:)

Natalee started 3rd grade!
She was very ready to go back to school!

Brilee started Kindergarten this year!
He was not ready to go back!

 Completely Editable Behavior Calendars
My behavior charts are working out great this year and the parents are liking them too:)

We have already had 2 birthdays at school.
We have only been in school 8 days so far.
I made healthy choices each time but man was it hard.

 August Desk Buddies {Writing & Craftivity}
My firsties are loving the desk buddies this year again!
They keep asking when we get to make another one.
We have been going over the writing pages together and I know they
will do great once I turn it over to them to do independently.

I am in love with my Bulletin Board!!
This picture just does not do it justice.
It's so cute and everyone has liked it.
 Now for my lows:(

Our air conditioner went out on one of the hottest days of the year.
It didn't cost too much but it was an unexpected expense and that is never good.
Also we were told we should start an air conditioner fund to get another one:(
This one is just old and needs to be replaced.
Guess I know where my tax refund will be going:(

This little bird was in our pool.
Not sure what happened to it.
Maybe it was trying to get a drink.
                                                                 Poor little thing!!

Tips and Tools for Back to School- Week My Turn

This week's tip and tool for Back to School is brought to you from ME!!
I'm super excited to share with you something that I started using last year around Thanksgiving,
Desk Buddies.
My little sweeties last year had a love of stuffed animals.
Yep, every first grader loves them!
I love them!
Until they start to show up at school and take over my cuties desks.
Then not so much do I like them.
This is what happened last year.
Bennie Boos took over my room and students' desks.
This is a mild case of Beenie Boo take over.
At one time one of my cuties had 6 of this little babies on her desk.
Needless to say she didn't have much room to work.
Then they started to bring them in to their friends.
It was a nightmare!!
So I came up with the desk buddy.
The kids loved making them and having them on their desk.
They would beg for me to make a new one each week.
How could I not!
This year I have decided to take the Desk Buddy a step further and
involve a writing element.
This babies are going to be in my writing workstation this year.
To start off the first day/week of school I have uploaded a
FREE My Summer Break Desk Buddy
to TpT for you to try out.
Here is what it includes:
*1 desk buddy {boy & girl version}
*5 different writing pages {boy & girl version}
*picture directions
*alteranative options

If you enjoyed this FREE version I also have an August Pack and
September will be coming out very soon:)
If you have any suggestions for a desk buddy
you would like to see in the

High/Low Linky

I'm linking up with my sweet friend Julie for her High/Low Linky:)

Even though I was very tired this morning I still went to the gym and
got my 30 minutes of cardio in.
I walked on the stair-master and I'm finding that I really enjoy it.
I have lost 20 pounds so far this summer and I couldn't be happier.
I still have more the lose but I'm headed in the right direction:)

This is what happens when you look at IG and Twitter instead
of paying attention to what you're cooking.
So my first batch of peanut brittle was a complete EPIC FAIL.
I did go on to make 2 more batches and they were better
but not great:(
The last and best batch is what I used to enter into the Kentucky State Fair.
Not blue ribbon quality this year but I have fun doing it anyway.

Come link up with us and share your High/Low for the week.

Tips and Tools for Back to School- Week 8

I usually have this posted on Sunday,
but with the hype of the TpT Sale and
My Favorite Things linky Giveaway (which you can still enter) it didn't get done.
That being said here is Week 8 of...

This week my sweet friend Missy @DirtRoadTeacher has recapped
all the previous tips and tools we have had so far.
Let's be honest.
When we started our Tips and Tools a lot of readers weren't ready to
start looking at school things, even freebies.
I understand!
I mean school hadn't been out that long.
But now that school is looming over our heads or already started
we might be a little bit more ready to start looking at those freebie again.
Missy has several teacher planners and her FREEBIE is a section of one.
Click picture to go grab all the freebies!!
Remember to buzz back Sunday for another

8 of My Favorite Things for Back to School with a Giveaway

I have teamed up with Amy @Learning Lessons With Mrs. Labrasciano and
Mary @A Classroom Full of Smiles along with lots of other wonderful
bloggers to share some of our favorite back to school items.
We also have an AWESOME GIVEAWAY too!!

Whether the school year has already started for you or not.
It is fast approaching.
It started in the stores with the enticing displays of brand spanking new school supplies.
How is a teacher suppose to ignore that!?!
We can't!!
Or at least I can't.
It's almost like they are calling my name.
Heather buy me!!
You need me to have a successful year.
Who cares that you already have a storage unit full of glue sticks.
OK so maybe I don't have a storage unit full of glue sticks but I have plenty.
But I also know I will buy more.

Anyway here are some of my must haves to start off the school year.

1
My favorite pens are these from Pilot.
They write so smoothly and I really like the different colors.
Also they are made from recycled water bottles.
How cool is that?

2
I LOVE Post-it Notes!
Did you know that they are made right here in Kentucky?
Yep they are!
I like all shapes, sizes, colors of Post-it notes.
I also have several of the knockoffs but I really prefer the real ones

3

I always get a new pair of tennis shoes for school.
If I'm going to be on the floor and working with little kids I want to be comfortable.
If I have a meeting I'll wear dressier shoes but if not
you're going to catch me in a pair of these.
Are you allowed to wear tennis shoes are do you have to be dressed up everyday?

4
New broad line markers!!
Love them for coloring in and grading papers.
I usually buy several when they are on sale.
I don't allow my firsties to have their own markers.
It just makes it easier for me to have control over who has them and that they are use appropriately.
One year I had a lovely child decide to sneak one to the restroom and make fingerprints all over the stall doors:/

5
Must be CRAYOLA when it comes to crayons!!
No knockoff please!
I buy so many of these each year I should have stock in them.
Who can resist new sharp crayons?

 6
Can you tell I really like Crayola?
Told ya I should have stock in them.
These are just so nice to have at my writing center for the kids.
They give a whole new element of creativity when it comes to writing.
Don't you agree?

7
Each year I start off with a new teacher binder.
This is from last year.
Still working on the one for this year.
It has everything I could need in one place.
Planner, grade-book, calendar and any and everything else I could possibly need.
What do you use to help keep yourself organized?

8
Teacher Bags!
I've had this a few years but I don't use it every year.
I change it up every so often.
Like when on is so full I can't stand to take it anymore, I use a different one.
LOL!  The stuff you see in this bag has been in there for a few years.
I couldn't even tell you what half of it is.
Maybe I'll clean it out and use it this year.
Do you use the same bag every year of get a new one each year?

Now time for the giveaway.
Look at all the goodies we have for you.
The more you enter the better chance you have of winning:)
