Holidays Around The Blog

This morning I woke up to my littlest child yelling that it had snowed last night.
He was so excited and wanted to go out and play in it.
So I got up (after the 20th time of him waking me up) and went to see this snow.
It turned out that it was frost but it didn't' deter him.
He still wanted to play in it:)
After getting all dressed up warm, he and his sister raced outside to make frost angels.
It wasn't long before they were back inside and watching TV.

With the weather changing it brings on the feelings and cravings for all things Holiday related.
And I'm excited to share some of the things I do with my little class each year.

Thanks so much Amy and Julie for all the hard work you both put  into this linky!!

Every year I put out my Christmas books and put up my little Christmas tree.  My kiddos love walking in and seeing these things.  This year I have decided to get a REAL tree and decorate it in my classroom.  I can't wait for it to make my room smell like Christmas.

We always make time to make and decorate Gingerbread houses after learning about Germany.
I show different types of gingerbread houses and we read several gingerbread stories too.
The kids bring in some kind of treat to use as decorations for our houses.
Each child has their own icing and milk carton to use as the base for our goodies.
I put everything out for them to use and them let them loose.
I love seeing their creativity come out in their designs.

Center time is "Snow" much fun!
I use my winter centers during this season too.
I used these last year and my kids had so much fun.
They especially enjoyed the Literacy winter centers.
I also have a Winter math centers set too.

I enjoy giving my kids presents for Christmas.
What little kid doesn't like presents?!?!
Most like to color so I always bind up my Christmas color by Sight word book  and let them pick out a scholastic book to order and give to them.
My coloring book has 2 different covers: one is Merry Christmas from your teacher and the other is Happy Holidays from your teacher.
The color pages inside do have Christmas and Holiday theme pages so many may not be able to use them with their class.
This has prompted me to make a Winter coloring book for those that are not allowed to have Christmas and Santa theme things.
Keep an eye out for it soon!!

Now it's your turn to link up and let us know how you celebrate the holidays in your classroom.
Do you have an elf on the shelf?
Do you make gingerbread houses?
What about gifts? Are they allowed in your school?
Link up and tell us all about it.

Don't forget to enter to win our giveaway!!!
I know I could use the extra bucks.
What would you spend it on?
