Five for Friday {Nov 29}

Here is a little bit of randomness from my week.

We had school on Monday and Tuesday so we rocked these reading centers.

We rocked these math centers too!

We always have our faculty and staff potluck Thanksgiving lunch on Tuesday.
Our principal has room mothers cover our classes so we can all eat together.
It's so nice to spend that time together with out it being a meeting.

My 2 littlest kiddos decided to help me paint their room.
Actually it's Natalee's room but Brilee refuses to sleep in his room.
It's going to be 1 purple wall and 3 pink walls.

I am not an impulsive buyer.
I will carry something around the store all day and then talk myself out of buying it.
I just couldn't pass this sweatshirt up from Target.
I am so glad I go it.  Super comfy and cut to boot!

My TpT store is on sale today 20% off.
Happy Black Friday!!

And of course don't forget the Big Cyber TpT sale coming up.
I will be participating in that sale also;)

Happy Friday!!

Teachers Inspire Teachers {Nov 24}

This week I want to tell you about a wonderful clip art artist I found on TpT.
Sarah OShea at EduClips & Educasong.
This button will take you to her TpT store.

This button will take you to her blog.
Great freebies to be found there.

I have bought several clip art packs from here.
They are so darn cute and I just can't seem to pass them up.
Especially since they are one sale for 50% off the first 48 hours.
I'm buying packs because of the great deals and not even knowing what I'm going to do with them.
Here are just a few of the newest ones I've bought.
I LOVE them!!!

This store has been feeding my clip art addiction.
Thank you Sarah for making such cuteness that I am able to use in my classroom and store.
Your clip art brightens my day and inspires me to make better centers for my kiddos.
Thanks for all your hard work!!

I would love to know who inspires you.

Link up or leave a comment about who inspired you this week.

I hope you have a Sensational Sunday!!

Teachers Inspire Teachers {Nov 17} & FREEBIE

This Sunday I want to tell you a little bit about this site and clip art artist.

Maybe you have heard of it and used the adorable graphics found here.
If not, I highly recommend that you check out Laura Strickland's graphics.
I have used a lot of her graphics and backgrounds when making my Reading Street Centers.
The best thing about them is not only are they super duper cute but they're FREE.
You do have to credit but that's only fair in my book.

What you might not know is Laura Strickland is also the owner of Whimsy Clips on TpT.

That gives you 2 places to find some super cute clip art for your classroom and TpT products.
Thank you Laura for sharing your artistic talent with me and others.
Your adorable graphics inspire me to make cute centers to use in my classroom and to share them with others through TpT.

This is just one of my products that contains clip-art from My Cute Graphics.

Five for Friday {Nov 15}

I love this linking part because it is so easy.
And I like easy.
So here are my pictures with a little definition of what we are doing in each.

Yesterday was the 60th day of school so we made turkeys with 6 feathers and 10 stickers on each.
The kids were so cute when they realized it was a Zero the Hero project.

Our reading story this week was The Big Circle.
As you can see it is a dinosaur story.
I got out my dinosaur puppets and let the kids use them as they read the story.
Suddenly everyone was into reading that story;)

Carson Dellosa had a big math manipulatives sale and I got these linking links.
The kids loved making chains with them.
We made patterns and then talked about how we could use them to measure things.
I might have to go back and order some more things;)

We did a little bit of sequencing with a corn seed.
We put the pictures in order and then the kids had to write me one good sentence about each picture.
They did a really good job.

We finally finished our HERO books yesterday too.
These turned out really cute and the kids had a blast making them and learning about Veteran's Day.

Teachers Inspire Teachers {Nov 10} and a FREEBIE

When I was in first grade I was diagnosed with ADD.
I had a hard time staying focused on my work in the classroom.
At my school we had a reading specialist teacher that would pull students and work with them one on one or in very small groups.
I was one of those kids she would pull to work with.
I can still remember loving when she would come get me.
I was able to understand things so much better with her help.
Mrs. Pearce pulled and worked with me until I was in the 7th grade.
At that time I was able to do my work better and stay focused.
I will never forget the day she told me that she wouldn't be taking me anymore.
We were standing outside my 7th grade classroom and she kept telling me that if I felt like I still needed help to come to her.
I know their were some tears too.
As I went on to High School and collage I was able to use the strategies that Mrs. Pearce taught me to succeed.
After I didn't get hired back from my first teaching position, I went back to my elementary school and put an application in.
I also enrolled my daughter in the 4th grade there.
I ended up getting hired the day before school started to be the first grade teacher.
I couldn't have been more excited or scared.
I was going to be a teacher in my old first grade room.
I would never had thought that in a million years.
Mrs. Pearce was still the reading specialist teacher and had put in a really good word for me to get hired.

A few years later she decided to retire after 45 years as a teacher at our school.
I was sad to see her go.
She had helped me even more as a teacher with my students.

Mrs. Pearce didn't stay gone for long.
She decided to come back on Wednesdays and read to the Pre-K through 2 grade classroom.
The picture below are from this past Wednesday.
My kiddos love when she comes in and reads to them.
She always goes beyond just reading the story to them too.
She asks them questions and how they feel about what they had read.
It is truly a wonderful thing to see.

Thank you so much Mrs. Pearce for believing in me and helping me on my journey to becoming a teacher.
Here is a freebie set of short vowel posters.
Mrs. Pearce use to have a large poster in her room and we would always go over them first thing.  Click the picture to grab it.
