Five for Friday {May 31}

It's Friday and I couldn't be happier!
Maybe next week will ease up and not be as demanding as this week.
I'm linking up today with Doodle Bug Teaching for the wonderful Five for Friday linky.
If you haven't linked up before or checked out this blog do it now.
It is totally awesome!!
So this week is totally going to be random because I'm out of school and running around the house like a chicken with my head cut off.  I don't think I have been this busy and stressed all year long.  I ALMOST want to go back to work {Almost}.

1.  TpT items updated!  I just started updating my simple centers this week.  I have wanted to do this for some time but just never had the time until now.  I have my grade 1 unit 2 all updated and loaded on TpT but I still need to update them on TN.  I hope to work on grade 1 unit 3 today.  {Click here to check out the bundled set}

2.  I finally decided to take the plunge and get a Bamboo Tablet.  I went with the Capture.  I got a great deal on it so I just couldn't pass it up.  I'm not an artist but I love to doodle around so I thought this would be a great way for me to try my had at making clip art for my own items and charts at school.  We shall see how that goes.

3.  My oldest daughter got her Junior Ring and went to her dance last week actually.  We got the pictures from the dance yesterday.  I know I'm biased but I think she looked gorgeous.  Here friends made such a do about her wearing a short dress and boots when everyone else was wearing long gowns and heels.  But I think she rocked that dress and boots perfectly even the photographer was excited to take her picture because she went against the norm so to say:)

4.  My hubby planted some flowers and mulched the flower bed in front of the house.  We have had flowers in there before but they always die and we have never had it look this good.  We plan on adding more as the year goes on.  They are perennials too so we won't have to plant them again as long as they survive.  We still have  ways to go but at least its a start.

5.  We have decided to paint the back deck with BEHR DeckOver.  My mom and dad did theirs yesterday and it looks amazing.  I'm not sure exactly what color yet but I'm leaning for toward the Redwood.  It's a little expensive but it's cheaper than redoing the deck.  If this doesn't work then next year a new deck is our big project to tackle.
Now it's your turn to link up:)

My heart goes out to all those affected by the storms.

Shout Out: Stop! It's Partner Time

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to get to review a great time telling center from Brittany at Closing the Gap in a Cute Outfit.  It's called Stop! It's Partner Time {CCSS Aligned Partner Game AND Center for Telling Time}
It comes with 2 time telling games to the hour and half hour, one for whole group/partners and a one for center time.   I quickly printed them both out on regular paper but I am going back and printing them on card stock and in color for next year.  My kiddos loved this.  In fact we played the whole group/partner game as our inside recess last week. I kept telling the kiddos that they might not get finished and it was so cute when they would start to protest that they only had a few more to do.  They really got into it.  It is so nice to have your kids playing educational games that help them review important skills, especially when they are enjoying it so much.  I especially liked that it came with 2 different versions of the game.  I could have kids review the skill during centers or have them work with me in a small group.  The accountability talk is a wonderful idea.  The partners ask questions of each other to find out how the answer was figured out.  This was definitely a win-win in my classroom.  It was easy to run off and have ready for my kiddos and it was great practice for them.  I will definitely be using this again next year.  Thank you Brittany for giving me the opportunity to review your great product.  Here are a few pictures of my kiddos enjoying the game.

As you know Google Reader is on its way out so I just joined Bloglovin'.

If You Give a Dad a Doughnut {A Father's Day Story}

I have always had my kiddos make cute little pictures, breakfast in bed bags, or stories for their Mother's Day presents, but the dads always get the short end of the stick because we aren't it school for that day.  This year I wanted to do something for the dads so I wrote my own version of If You Give a Dad a Doughnut for the kids to illustrate.  The kids loved it and I really enjoyed writing it.  It is available in both my stores for only $2.  It comes with 2 page layouts {full page and half page books}.  I chose to use the full page book with my kiddos this year.  Click Here for TpT or Click Here for TN to check it out.  Here are a few pictures of their illustrations.

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Five for Friday {May 3} Derby Style

It is good to be Friday.
I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for
the Five for Friday.
I have been looking forward for this all week long.
Let the good times roll.

I am so glad this week is over.
I had morning duty this week for the whole school.
It wasn't bad but I still prefer not doing it.

So here is my little bit of randomness this week:)

1.  It's Derby time here in Kentucky and we have been doing some really fun things.
We made Derby hats because everyone wears hats to the Derby.  They can be anything from funny, pretty, crazy, elegant and the list goes on and on.

We learned the hard way that spray painting them was not a good idea.  It was hard to tape, glue and draw on them.  We know to do something different next year.

2.  We raced cotton balls in the room.  The kids had so much fun doing this.  They each got one cotton ball and one straw.  They had to blow through the straw to race their cotton ball down the room to the finish line.  This actually went with our religion lesson on the Holy Spirit being like the wind.  We can't see it but we know it's there.  Anyway the kiddos were more worried about winning and crossing the finish line:)

3.  They had goodies in the teacher's lounge.

Derby Pie cupcakes {They were good}
Derby cupcakes {These were the BEST!!!}

 4.  We had a Turtle Derby!!!!  Yep you read that right.  The Pre-K teachers organized the derby and provided the classes{Pre-K through 5} with a turtle.  We named the turtle Lightening and made posters for him/her.  Our little turtle was terrified of the noise so it refused to come out and race but it was really fun and the whole school go to watch.  The 5th grade's turtle won the race by a landslide.

Here is our little guy.  He was so so scared:(
The winner received a garland of strawberries.

5.  Two of my kiddos found Gold Derby Pins!!!  I have been collecting these things for years and have never gotten a gold one:(  I also heard anther student talking about one of the older kids finding one too.  What's the chances of 3 kids from the same school finding Gold Derby Pin all in the same weekend?  I guess pretty good this year!

I'm off today for the Oaks.  In the past so many teachers and kids asked for the day off or weren't at school it just made more sense to have it as a day off.  I'm not complaining at all.  I hope to work on some things for my stores and watch the races on TV:)

May Currently

It's hard to believe that it is May already.
Where has the school year gone?
So without further delay...May Currently!!!!!

Link up with Farley here!
 Really everything is pretty much as it says.
I have 2 female guinea pigs that I just love:)
This was the day I brought them home.  Caramel is the one with the black band around her middle and Mocha is the other one.  Caramel is very friendly where Mocha would rather you leave her alone.

 I only have 13 1/2 days of school left and I am ready.

I really need to let go of the things I have no control over and learn to forgive.
This is really hard right now.
The Hubs and I are not on equal ground right now.
I won't bore you with the details but let just say that the Disney trip I thought we were going to be able to afford is not going to happen and I'm devastated more than the kids.  It's done, over and time to move on.  I'll get over it eventually {I hope}.

I want a Bamboo table very badly.  I have gotten into doodling and I want one to try out.  They are a in my budget too so that makes them very appealing.  I'm not an artist by far but I would like to make my own clip art for some of my items.  Anyone know anything about them?  I'd love to hear what you would suggest.

I NEED new clothes!  I have lost some weight {YEA!!!} and nothing fits anymore.

This summer I plan on relaxing in my pool:)
Creating new items for my classroom next year and putting them in my stores:)
Revamping how I teach writing and looking into theme teaching.
I plan on starting writing on the first day of school next year and hopefully starting writer's workshop.
Anyone that already does this and would like to shed some light on it for me would be my best friend;)
